Program Model - About - Future Friendly Schools

Program Model

The Future Friendly Schools program model includes three program elements:

Online Community

Becoming a Future Friendly School means gaining access to a global network of schools committed to world-changing education. Your school will be able to showcase its work to the world on a personalized multi-media school page, providing recognition for your innovative practices. To promote international collaboration, your school will be partnered with a sister school in a global region of your choosing, and will have access to a community of practice featuring webinars and knowledge sharing.

Certification

A bronze, silver, or gold designation will be awarded to schools who demonstrate excellence in areas of global citizenship, student voice, and environmental stewardship. Certification for all three areas happens at the same time, through submitting evidence and sharing surveys for feedback from staff and students. The 2013-2014 certification guide will be released in August 2013 and will provide details and recommendations on each step of the process.

Professional Development

A range of professional development offerings are available across the three value areas of the Future Friendly Schools program: global citizenship, environmental stewardship, and student voice. With flexible online and in-person options, we can meet the needs of groups and individual educators and administrators. Choose from flexible online offerings such as e-courses, online learning circles, and free webinars, as well as keynotes and in-service workshops delivered in person at your convenience.
